About

I'm a builder and entrepreneur at the intersection of Bitcoin and energy. I grew up a mechanical engineer — studied it at Wisconsin, rowed Division I, went straight into aerospace at ULA working thermal systems on the Vulcan rocket. But Bitcoin changed the direction. Specifically, the realization that the heat coming off a Bitcoin miner isn't waste — it's a product.

That idea became Exergy, the company I founded to commercialize hashrate heating. We design and install systems that use Bitcoin miners as the heat source for homes, businesses, and industrial applications — lowering utility bills while supporting network decentralization. I also wrote Bitcoin Mining Heat Reuse, published through Braiins, which became the go-to reference for the industry.

The work isn't just commercial. I help steward the open-source side of Bitcoin mining through the 256 Foundation, where I sit on the board. I founded the Hashrate Heatpunks community to connect people building in this space — it's now part of the 256 Foundation. And in Denver, I co-founded The Space, a member-run Bitcoin citadel where our community meets, the Exergy office lives, and Heatpunk Summit happens every year.

Outside of work I'm into snowboarding, overlanding, cars, and anything mechanical. I like things that are built to last.
